Tuesday July 15 2014

I met with Mike and Tim early Tuesday. Mike is a returning Air Force Firefighter who has been stationed in Honduras and being sent over to Guam. His mother had talked to me about getting him out on the water for a sailing lesson. As a vet I have nothing but time and respect for our servicemen so I blocked the day out for them. Tim is his step father and we would all be sailing together.
I had the boat ready to go when they got there and got them geared up with gloves, life jackets and harnesses and we rolled down to the water. We had a small issue getting out from the dock in the shifting wind but with a few maneuvers and a quick back up we were off. We headed up the basin and the wind filled enough to start popping the hull up.
I talked Tim through the process of going out on the wire and he loved the sensation of trapping out as we flew the hull. The next tack was too short to get Mike out but there would be plenty of time for that. We tacked back to port and the wind had filled enough to get them double trapped as I drove. We ran all the way out to the bay and turned back into the basin. This was a nice long reach till we got to where we could set the kite.
Mike followed directions and we got the hoist done and we had a nice run back down into the basin where the other F18 was coming out. We stayed in the basin for a bit then chose to run outside again. Pretty much the same as the last time but the wind was fading a bit. We got out to the power lines but with the lightened wind and being heavy we turned and set the kite. This was a nice controlled hull fly all the way back into the basin. We chose to put the boat up and call it a day. Mike helped me wash Capricorn down and put it on the trailer.
Mike and Tim left to go get some food and I left to drive home. We had a good day and it was nice to give back a little to someone defending my rights to do what I love. Safe travels Mike.http://www.sailblogs.com/member/capricornusa/

If you start a new blog with a write up introducing yourself and where you sail it stays up the top of your entries then you can keep contributing to the same blog which gives a timeline  but your latest entry stays just under the first intro and at the end of the season start a new one
